Holiday Outfits: 4 Options
Updated: Dec 13, 2018
Sometimes, figuring out what to wear during the holiday season is tough since there are so many events all at the same time. While I am a true believer in re-wearing the same black dress to every fancy event, I can understand that maybe not everyone is into that and that maybe (just maybe) it's too cold for skirts and dresses and we want a pant-centered occasion-wear outfit. Here are 4 festive outfit options that I'll be wearing this season and that might offer some outfit inspo for you!
1. Occasion: Fancy Event
I imagine wearing this look to a ballet or show. Although I don't have any tickets purchased, this would equally look great as a New Year's Eve Party look. This velvet jumpsuit screams “holiday festivities” to me. The material is so luxe and I think the cut would be flattering on so many body types. It nips you in at the waist, has a nice elongating v-neck and the wide leg skims the hips and helps with the elongation.
I paired it with a loose blazer for some added warmth and coverage since the jumpsuit only has thin straps.
I’m also loving the velvet-on-velvet look that this clutch adds to the outfit. I thrifted this velvet beaded clutch 4 years ago and it has been my only occasion-wear bag since. It’s super versatile since the beading makes it go with any colour dress and outfit. It’s glitzy and glam and I love it since most of my occasion-wear is pretty simple (I usually buy basic styles so that I can re-wear them endlessly)!
2. Occasion: Fancy Party
This LBD is always on rotation in my closet. It’s a comfy sweater-y material but since it’s body-con and black I feel like I can get away with wearing it to fancier occasions. So I wear it on cozy days with knee-high socks but throw on some heels and a lipstick and I think it’s party-ready. I honestly don’t wear bright lipstick very often, but a red lip is super festive and fun for the holidays!
Fancy and comfy? A perfect combination.
3. Occasion: Cozy day-in
There are so many cozy occasions during the holidays. I chose an outfit for an indoor occasion like baking or decorating for the holidays since an outdoor outfit would probably be boring (most likely jeans, boots, parka and a warm hat and scarf). If you’re staying indoors for cozy festivities, I think a mini skirt with thick tights and a chunky sweater would be super cute. This plaid is very holiday-esque and is an awesome transitional item from fall to winter. The caramel sweater adds to the warmth of the look and hopefully reflects the warmth of the season! (figuratively - with all the festive joy… because here in Canada its freezing).
4. Occasion: Semi-fancy
I thought I would end off with a more casual option that you could wear to a nice family dinner. Let’s say you want to wear jeans but need to dress it up a bit since you want to look a little fancier than everyday. I would opt for a silk blouse, lot’s of jewellery and a short heel.
What will you be wearing this holiday season?!
